OUR PHILOSPOPHY
|
|
Our Statement of Purpose:
Kids ’N Stuff: An Interactive
Experience for Kids will enhance the educational opportunities for
children and their families by providing a creative and enriching
experience through interactive exhibits and programs in the arts,
humanities, sciences and technology.
Through its programs and governance the museum will reflect the region’s
rich ethnic, cultural and economic history. |
|
Kids
'N' Stuff: An Interactive Experience for Kids, unlike other area museums,
will focus on youth ages 10 months to 12 years old. |
| Our Service Philosophy |
|
Collaboration – To
work with local educators, area youth and youth service organizations to
design programs and exhibits that will add another dimension to the topics
offered by the local schools. Through these programs, Kids 'N' Stuff will
reinforce the education that the youth are receiving in the schools. |
|
Raising awareness- To
design Programs that raise awareness of the world around us, including our
unique cultural heritage and the environment in which we live. |
|
Life Skills development-
To develop programs to teach life skills, to expose students to new
perspectives and help them learn to compromise. |
|
Minds-on, Hands-on -
To develop programming that will emphasize using the mind and the hands to
explore and discover. |
|
Interconnectivity -
To demonstrate the relationships between the arts, humanities, sciences and
technology. |
|
Exhibits - To achieve distinction as an
attractive destination for both tourists and children of the region, KNS has
selected four guiding principles in the design of exhibits:
-
The focus of KNS will be to serve children aged 10 months to twelve years.
-
Interactive exhibits will be designed to reflect the history,
geography economy, etc… of the South Central Lower Michigan region.
-
Additional exhibits and activities will be designed that
reflect the rich diversity of the people in the South Central Lower Michigan
Region.
-
KNS will collaborate with area schools to develop exhibits and
programming that will enrich the K-5 curriculum.
